CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE

● Support community-driven and culturally relevant efforts for a more sustainable future

● Protecting our air and water quality by shutting down polluters and halting the expansion of extractive industries, mining, and pipelines

● Expand urban tree canopy, greenspaces, xeriscaping, carbon sequestering plants, urban agriculture, and create food security

● Shut down the HERC and Smith Foundry

● Increase local energy resilience by supporting cooperative/public ownership of gas, electric, geothermal, and internet

● Support inclusive financing, creating micro-grids and resilience hubs, and decrease our reliance on imported energy

● Live in healthier homes by replacing natural gas utilities, providing affordable radon, mold, and other asthmagen screening and mitigation, and improving home energy efficiency

● Support transit infrastructure for safe biking, walking, and ADA access as well as dedicated bus lanes, and expanded bus routes plus higher frequency

HEALTH CARE

Together we can…

Expand access to affordable high-quality care by supporting a statewide single-payer health plan, and deprivatizing Medicare and Medicaid

Make substance abuse treatment more culturally relevant by supporting community-driven solutions

Address Social Determinants of Health by improving healthcare reimbursement and financial incentives, prioritizing health over profit, and improving the integration of health and life quality services across multiple organizations and programs

Support the full coverage of gender-affirming care

QUALITY EDUCATION AND EQUITY

Together we can…

Improve student wellness by rescinding zero tolerance policies, improve non-punitive behavior-based intervention, improve mental health support, support resources for families, and support creative solutions to student truancy

Fund out-of-school and inter-generational programs

Fund full-service community schools that deliver additional necessities based on students’ needs

Support educators by removing the cap on Educator Expense Deduction, increase the number of paraprofessionals and counselors, and support recommendations by educator unions

Expand free college tuition for all Minnesota students attending public higher education

Support educational equity by supporting Ethnic Studies and Native American Studies, support gender inclusion policy, oppose vouchers that allow taxpayer dollars to be redirected away from public schools, maintain and recruit diverse educators, support Spanish, Somali, and other culturally relevant education

PUBLIC SAFETY AND POLICE ACCOUNTABILITY

Together we can…

End pretextual Stops, End Qualified Immunity, ban use of “excited delirium,” and require licensed peace officers to obtain professional liability insurance. 

Expunge non-violent drug offenses and support no charges made regarding drugs on mental health crisis calls.

Mandate mental health treatment for people in jails or prisons, mandate that people receive the same meds they were prescribed by their doctor before they entered the jail, and limit use of force on mental health related calls. 

Support public safety alternatives to armed police especially in regard to traffic enforcement, domestic violence response, unhoused community outreach, and mental health crises. 

Support transformative justice initiatives, community-oriented alternatives, harm reduction, and funding culturally relevant social services that create lasting alternatives to punishment and imprisonment. 

DIGNIFIED HOUSING

Together we can…

End evictions and support community-driven solutions and support the expansion of Section 9 public housing

Support Land Back and strengthen tribal sovereignty 

Keep families in their homes by stabilizing rent, strengthening renter protections, and removing the state preemption of rent stabilization policies

Support housing cooperatives and tenant unions

Build generational wealth by banning out-of-state investors and multi-national corporations from buying houses in mass, which makes the Minneapolis housing market inaccessible, and support creative solutions to empty office buildings

WORKER’S RIGHTS AND ECONOMIC VITALITY

Together we can…

Follow the lead of workers and unions by supporting the right to unionize, listening to workers, and supporting worker owned cooperatives

Raise the minimum wage, protect the minimum wage for rideshare drivers, and eliminate the sub-minimum wage

Support a Just Transition by focusing paid green job training on BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and working-class people

Set a standard for nurse/provider-to-patient ratios and publicly disclose the staffing levels at such facilities

Support small businesses and encourage BIPOC entrepreneurship by making leases accessible as well as provide support for setbacks due to construction and the adaptation period necessary for adhering to new health, safety, or environmental mandates
